Bio:
Nice to meet you, my name is Ryoko. I am a graduate student majoring in Japanese at Xi'an Foreign Studies University. I hold a Level 1 Japanese Language Proficiency Certificate. I am from Shaanxi Province, Xi'an City, which was the location of the Qin Emperor's Terracotta Army. My hobbies are reading, music, and exercise. I think I am a very kind-hearted person with a bright personality, and I am good at getting along with people around me. Through language exchange, I have gotten to know several Japanese people and often chat with them. I love interacting with Japanese people.   • She is a very good teacher. She teaches in a calm and steady manner, so I liked her and continued taking lessons. However, during today's lesson, there was something about the textbook content that I didn't quite understand. When I asked about it, the teacher spoke to me in a very intimidating way, and she corrected my Chinese with "That's not how you say it," in a rather scary tone. I couldn't express what I wanted to say due to my limited Chinese ability, so I said "I don't know enough, so I'll look it up later," but at the end she said "I don't understand what you're trying to say," which made me very sad. I apologize because I simply couldn't say what I wanted to in Chinese. I think perhaps my performance today was just so bad that the atmosphere became unpleasant, but for a while now, I've been too afraid to take her lessons...

Booking & Lesson Guidelines

  • Bookings open up to 2 hours before the lesson OK.
  • Cancel up to 1 hour before lesson , press the cancel button. Cancellation closes 1 hour before the lesson — after that, notify your tutor via Teams chat.
  • In unavoidable circumstances, a tutor may need to cancel a lesson. If the lesson can't be held that day, customer support will arrange a substitute tutor or reschedule the lesson.
  • Your tutor will call you on Teams at the start of your lesson, so please log in to Teams and wait. (If your status isn't online, the call may not connect.)
  • If the tutor is unable to reach you within 10 minutes after the lesson start time, the lesson will be treated as an absence and canceled.
  • If your tutor hasn't called within 1 minute of the start time , please call your tutor instead. Depending on Teams status, their call may not connect. (Their Microsoft account is in your booking list on your Dashboard.) If you cannot reach them, contact Contact Us to contact us.
  • Occasionally, tutors may face issues such as power outages or network failures. We respond as quickly as possible, but if multiple tutors are affected at once, there may be a delay. In that case, your lesson will be rescheduled — please contact Customer Support.
  • Teams support is limited to emergencies where our customer support team needs to contact you.
