Bio:
Hello, my name is Mikiko. I was also taking lessons with a NetChai teacher four years ago. I'm so happy that I can continue learning Chinese with NetChai. I previously studied in Japan for 7 years, and while living in Japan, I studied hard in various ways. I'm truly grateful for that. My interests are interior design and drawing manga. For everyone interested in Chinese, let's enjoy learning Chinese together with NetChai from now on. Please help me out. I'm looking forward to it!!
Recent updates:
Mikiko's lessons started on November 22, 2019.

  • Thank you for discussing the high cost of living in Japan with me. I really appreciate it.
  • It was so much fun, and thank you for teaching me everyday vocabulary and its nuances!
  • When I compare the Moscow survey with the protests happening in various parts of Japan, I don't think the survey results are necessarily accurate. Thank you very much.
  • The tutor teaches me with casual conversation mixed in, and without making education feel like a painful chore, they make studying incredibly enjoyable and help me learn with enthusiasm.
  • I was grateful that they added pinyin to the packed words and wrote a lot in the chat box.
  • The regional promotion festival was a memorial. Thank you very much.
  • Thank you for adding the pinyin to the chat. It was really helpful!
  • I learned how to make curry and nan bread from Curry Nan. Thank you so much.
  • I used to memorize calculus when I was younger, but after getting older, it became difficult. Thank you so much for explaining that to me.
  • Such a bright and wonderful teacher!
  • We talked about my driver's license account (账户) being locked. Thank you!
  • We talked about Chinese restaurants with the character "斎" (zhai1) in their name. I learned that "斎" refers to sacred meals, including those offered at Buddhist memorial services. Thank you!
  • We talked about preparations for an anti-constitutional amendment protest. I'll tell you about the results next time. Thank you.
  • We shared impressions about the Wuhan Diary. At that time, it wasn't just the people of Wuhan but the whole world that suffered. Thank you!
  • It was easy to talk! That was great!
  • You taught me very carefully. I had forgotten a lot of grammar since it had been a while since I studied Chinese, but you adjusted your teaching to my pace. I want to get better at understanding the Chinese that the teacher speaks.
  • We discussed the best time to see cherry blossoms. Thank you very much.
  • I learned that the light stick you bring to concerts is called 应援棒. Thank you.
  • I learned about the sights to see at Mount Tai. Thank you.
  • Thank you!
  • We talked about eating herbal medicine curry (yao4sha4). I heard before that 咖喱饭 isn't eaten much in China, but it's an interesting difference in eating habits between Japan and China, right? Thank you very much.
  • Today we talked about the differences in tea drinking habits between China and Japan. Thank you!
  • It's interesting that calling an unlicensed taxi 黑车 has a similar nuance in Japan too. 1km for 160 yen is definitely cheap. Thank you!
  • We talked about concerns that there might have been fraud in Japan's elections. Thank you.
  • I'm going to the dentist on Valentine's Day (lol). Thank you.

  • I studied using a commercial HSK Level 2 practice test. There were difficult questions, so the teacher explained them in Japanese and I was able to understand.
  • The effects of the economic sanctions haven't surfaced yet, but it's unclear what will happen in the future. I'm curious about what things will be like in three months. Thank you.
  • The teacher was pessimistic about the prediction that the renminbi would be cut in the future, but I cannot abandon this prediction. Thank you very much.
  • Thank you so much, teacher! I really appreciate you sharing your insights about studying Chinese. I had so much fun in today's lesson. See you next time!
  • Thank you for sharing information about public transportation systems in China with me.
  • I shared information about public transportation institutions in China.
  • I was told that since Japan has lent 80 trillion yen to the United States, Japan shouldn't be in a difficult financial situation, and I found it hard to believe. It seemed like a story I couldn't even believe if explained in Japanese, so even when explained in Chinese it's still beyond me. Thank you so much for your help.
  • My knowledge about pork expanded from our conversations about roasted pork, but this lesson became an opportunity for me to reconsider what it truly means to dedicate oneself to something. Thank you so much.
  • The teacher taught me about both modern and traditional education in China. The instructor has a wealth of interesting topics to discuss.

  • The teacher's polite explanations about textbook selection and other matters left a very good impression on me during my first lesson.

  • I heard that in a typical Chinese hospital admission, the insurance copay burden is 50%, which I thought was high. However, I also learned that on the other hand, the pension payment age and cost of living are cheap, and there are good aspects where you can live on just a pension without savings. I thought it's difficult to make a simple comparison with Japan. Thank you so much.
  • In China, even with modest savings and just a pension, you can manage a comfortable life. That's the wonderful thing about it.
  • It's very easy to understand.
  • Regarding the textbook content, the tutor taught me how to actually use the language in conversation.
  • Please take care of yourself, teacher. I seem to have caught a slight cold as well.
  • The tutor always had a smile on their face throughout the lessons, and it was so much fun. I was also impressed by how well they kept the pace moving forward.
  • I heard about the dumpling restaurants that serve beef and lamb. I'd love to try them. They might be in Ikebukuro.

  • I would like to take lessons again.
  • Thank you so much for being considerate about my physical condition. Just to clarify, I'm not sick or anything.
  • I learned about camping through outdoor activities. It seems like it will become something I use often in conversations about autumn. Thank you very much.
  • I told my tutor about how my acquaintance went to get some susuki for the Moon Viewing Festival and got drenched. It's called 漏水 (ni4shui3) in Chinese, I think. Learning a language makes me feel like everything becomes relative, and there are always side effects like this. Thank you so much.
  • I found common topics to discuss, and I was able to have a very enjoyable conversation.
  • It's always such a fun lesson^^

  • Thank you, teacher, for sharing delicious food from Dalian with me~!
  • While I was talking about replacing my computer's SSD, I was able to study computer terminology in Chinese this time. An SSD is a solid-state drive, apparently. Once I develop a sense for the Chinese language, I might even be able to understand unfamiliar words on my own when I encounter them. Thank you so much.
  • I found it fascinating to hear that China's table tennis is said to be strong, and that Fukuhara Ai is recognized even by Chinese people. Since she has real skill and her Chinese has improved so much, that makes sense.
  • It was a lesson where I explained how I spent my day in Chinese. I'm making progress step by step.
  • I talked about the rising and falling desk. The rising and falling desk has gained citizens' rights in both China and Japan.

  • I was able to have a meaningful discussion about the differences between China's emphasis on family values and Japan's shift toward nuclear families. The teacher's point about "there's no right or wrong in choosing to marry or not, or having children or not" really resonated with me—I hadn't thought of it that way before. Thank you so much.
  • We discussed the differences in bathing culture between Japan and China (though it turned out there wasn't really much difference). Thank you so much!
