Bio:
Hello everyone. My name is Wu Yalin (吳亞琳). I currently live in Chongqing, China. I graduated from the Japanese Language Department at Hunan University, and during my four years as a student there, I studied Japanese and obtained the JLPT Level 1 certification. I'm delighted to be able to chat with everyone on NetChai. I enjoy interacting with people, and above all, I absolutely love Chinese. I would be thrilled if I could help more people experience the charm of the Chinese language. I don't speak much Japanese, so I recommend this class for intermediate and advanced level Chinese learners. For beginners, I would be happy to have you join my class, understanding that conversations will be conducted in Chinese. I look forward to your participation.
Recent updates:
Teacher Arin will resume lessons starting December 29, 2025.
Student reviews (latest 100):
  • In the lesson, I learned new vocabulary words, specifically "单程" (one-way) and "装下" (to fit/to contain).
  • During the lesson, I learned a new vocabulary word, which is "桑拿 sang1 na2".
  • I apologize for my unclear explanation. Kurashiki kasuri is not silk fabric, it's hemp fabric!
  • During the lesson, I learned many vocabulary words like "qi皿" (tableware), "念经" (chanting sutras), "念珠" (prayer beads), and so on.
  • In class, I learned a new term: "relatively backward."
  • During class, I learned many words, including "reputation," "pinched," "specialized," and so on.
  • During class, when talking about Hong Jiang, the topic is "Hong Jiang uses plum vinegar and purple perilla to color."
  • In class, I learned new vocabulary words, specifically "外摆" (wài bǎi) and "公厕" (gōng cè).
  • During the lesson, I learned a new phrase, which is "势均力敌" (evenly matched).
  • In class I learned the new word "鼠标" (mouse). Also, sorry — "風物詩" is Japanese; it's probably similar to the Chinese "风景诗"!
  • In class I learned how to describe a traditional Japanese heating device — a very low table covered with a blanket, with an electric heater inside underneath a board.
  • The teacher is really kind. Even when I can't speak well or get stuck in the middle, they wait patiently and understand what I'm trying to say and teach me. It's great.
  • During class I learned the Chinese way of saying "the person who spoke ill of him was struck by lightning."
  • After class I learned the difference between 魚籽 and 鱼子, which mean pretty much the same thing, but the former is generally used in mainland China and the latter in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
  • During class I thought the explanation method of "26圣殉教者堂" was still pretty difficult!
  • In recent lessons, I've been having my diary corrected by Teacher Alin. Since the topics are everyday ones, I'm picking up practical Chinese conversation skills.
  • During class I learned Chinese vocabulary, namely 殖民地 (colony), 主任 (director), and 下属 (subordinate).
  • I felt throughout that you didn't want to speak Japanese. I understand grammar explanations can be difficult depending on Japanese ability, but it seems like you have no intention of speaking even in other parts. It was only pressure.
  • I felt throughout that you didn't want to speak Japanese. I understand grammar explanations can be difficult depending on Japanese ability, but it seems like you have no intention of speaking even in other parts. It was only pressure.
  • During class I learned a lot of Chinese vocabulary, like 奶油, 下属, 零食, and so on.
  • During class I learned the Chinese vocabulary 打招呼!
  • During the lesson I learned new Chinese vocabulary like "家常菜," "夹菜," and "喜庆."
  • In today's lesson I had a free talk conversation about 看电影时吃爆米花 and the Tutankhamun display at the Grand Egyptian Museum (大埃及博物馆的图坦卡蒙).
  • Today we had a fun conversation about vegetables. She's an enjoyable teacher.
  • During the lesson I learned new vocabulary: "邮轮" and "制造业".
  • Today I had a Chinese lesson about sightseeing in Kyoto. I learned in Chinese about the origins of Fushimi Inari Taisha and the origins of the fox, which is the messenger.
  • Alin 老师 is a person of integrity.
  • During the class I learned about 打铁花.
  • The vocabulary you mentioned in class about '以前的重庆的传统风貌' - I was too shy to say so at the time but I didn't understand it. I want to improve my listening more!
  • After class I felt that it would be even better if the teacher typed more, because I want to review by reading what was typed!
  • It was great to be able to talk about my Hokkaido trip. The teacher listened earnestly to the stories of an old person.
  • During the lesson I learned about tourist attractions in Chongqing, specifically the 洪崖洞 stilt houses.
  • She thoroughly corrects pronunciation and tones without letting them slide. You really can't have a conversation unless your Chinese is understandable. The teacher understands even if pronunciation or tones are wrong, but people on the street in China don't understand at all. It's sad
  • It was great that I could learn in Japan that rice and foreign cars are expensive.
  • She has a very relaxed conversation style and explains things in an easy-to-understand way, but in a 25-minute lesson, it feels like there's never quite enough time.
  • I'm very happy to take the teacher's class again.
  • Even when I speak awkward Chinese, she laughs and listens to me kindly. She was a teacher with a warm and gentle atmosphere.
  • Even when I speak clumsy Chinese, the tutor laughs and listens to me kindly. They were a teacher with a wonderful, gentle atmosphere.
  • She listened patiently to my Chinese, which I couldn't quite get the pronunciation right on, and helped me correct it right away.
  • The tutor taught me text substitution problems and their applications. With a kind and gentle atmosphere, the teacher listens intently to the passages I read, and carefully corrects my pronunciation. I look forward to continuing lessons with you.
  • Mr. Wu is a very friendly tutor with an easy-to-talk-to personality and a wonderful atmosphere. He is a highly recommended tutor! I'm looking forward to the next lesson. Thank you so much and I look forward to working with you.
  • The explanations were very clear and easy to understand. The teacher had a calm and gentle demeanor, which made me feel comfortable and I was able to take the lessons with peace of mind.
  • She was a teacher with a kind and calming presence. I would like to take her lessons again.
  • This was my first lesson with the teacher. The lesson proceeded smoothly without any issues, moving right through the textbook. I read passages, translated them, answered practice questions, and received corrections on some points. However, there was minimal explanation and little speaking practice—in fact, most of the lesson was in Japanese. With this approach, it's hard to tell the difference from self-study. I would appreciate more proactive engagement from the teacher and would like to see a review of the teaching methods.
  • Even when I got stuck trying to express what I wanted to say, the tutor waited for me with such a gentle and patient attitude, which was incredibly helpful.
  • The tutor speaks at a relaxed pace, making it very easy to listen and understand.
  • The explanations were easy to understand, and the tutor patiently taught me pronunciation. I really appreciated that they would correct me right away when I made mistakes!
  • When I don't use the correct four tones, there are times I don't get understood, which is very challenging. However, the tutor is very kind and patient with me.
  • She corrects my pronunciation very politely. Thank you so much.
  • I'm worried about how to proceed with the teaching materials during this period.
  • She is kind and corrects my pronunciation carefully, so she is a great teacher.
  • Thank you so much for teaching me so carefully. It was really fun.
  • Rather than just going through the motions, I can actually have conversations in Chinese, which has been incredibly motivating for me. Even when I'm struggling hard with the material, the tutor waits for me with a smile and a relaxed attitude, so I'm able to take lessons with confidence. Thank you so much.
  • It was my first lesson through the trial class, but the teacher explained everything in a very clear and easy-to-understand way. The instructor is kind and has a wonderful presence. Thank you so much.
  • I took a lesson for the first time. It was a 50-minute free trial with NetChai, and the tutor spoke at a nice, relaxed pace, so I was able to understand everything. Thank you so much.
  • Teacher Alin's lessons are wonderful because she always watches over me with a smiling face, even when I make mistakes. She doesn't have that strange mindset that some Japanese people have—where they get discouraged by small failures or think they have to be perfect to succeed. Instead, she just focuses on teaching with a positive attitude.
  • I was nervous at first, but the tutor was very accommodating to my poor pronunciation, and I'm really grateful. They pointed out my pronunciation mistakes, which made for great learning.
  • Teacher Arin teaches with a positive attitude and takes time to explain things carefully, so both sentences and vocabulary stick with me really well. I'm truly grateful.
  • The tutor gives very detailed feedback on pronunciation, which is great. However, the conversation text was cut short and ended abruptly once the time was up. I wish the tutor had extended the lesson by just 2-3 minutes and allowed me to finish at a natural stopping point, as I haven't encountered a tutor willing to do that before, so I was disappointed.
  • Teacher Arin creates various sentences using example sentences and asks questions about them, so the content stays in my memory very well. She conducts lessons by weaving together free talk and textbook content, so time passes in a flash.
  • She is very genuine and serious, and her pronunciation is truly authentic, so please take her advice. The pace of lessons is also without waste, and I am very satisfied every time.
  • I think she is a very good teacher for learning correct pronunciation. She also has a gentle and kind atmosphere.
  • The tutor has excellent teaching ability, and it's very easy to have conversations with her. I'm so glad I finally found such a great teacher—I can learn so much from her. I definitely want to keep taking her lessons.
  • She is a bright and easy-to-talk-to teacher. I feel very reassured taking lessons with her.
  • A bright and kind teacher. She carefully checks my pronunciation. If she could incorporate a few more vocabulary words into the lessons, it would make reviewing easier, and that would be even better! I look forward to continuing with you.
